If God Forgives Me, Why Do I Still Face Consequences for My Sin? - Part 1
The short answer is because God wants us close to Him. When we sin, we choose to stray from God in our hearts. God wants us to know that sin offends Him and hurts our relationship with Him. I think this is one of the most important questions to ask when talking about sin, grace, and salvation. If Jesus Christ has forgiven me, why does forgiveness not simply erase everything? Why do my sinful choices still hurt me? Why does sin damage my personal relationships even after I repent? For many years, I struggled to understand all this. God warns us about sin because He wants us close to Him.
